On 4-5 March, the Montesquieu Institute Maastricht in cooperation with the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences is organizing a two-day conference on the relationship between civil servants and politics. Topics range from issues such as recruitment and career progression to questions of accountability and political rights of civil servants. Special attention is given to the new challenges raised by the emergence of supranational and international bureaucracies for the intricate relation between civil servants and politicians. Speakers include both academics as well as practitioners from national and European administrations.
