Volgens de bovenstaande Political Science Music Box lijkt de kritiek op de politiek en de politici niet oud te zijn. Maar Michael Lemken heeft iets gevonden uit de baroktijd: De Duitse componist Johann Valentin Rathgeber (1682-1750) schreef tussen 1733 en 1746 de "Augsburger Tafelkonfekt", die uit elf liedjes bestaat. Een van de liedjes heet "Quod libeticum: Von einem Politico" (Wat u wenst: van een politicus). In de tekst gaat het daarom dat de politicus zichzelf financieel bevoordeelt en slechts met het geld van andere mensen vrijgevig is.
